on a mission

Beth is hosting Thanksgiving dinner this week, so Christine and I set off for Whole Foods in Stoke Newington today. why Whole Foods? because it's the only place in london where you can get canned pumpkin! since i'm making the pie, pumpkin was a necessity. we piled onto the 243 and about 25 minutes later we found ourselves outside what used to be my local grocery in the states. sigh. they indeed had pumpkin as well as a bunch of other american brands. good to know.

we wandered up and down church street afterwards and saw the cutest shops and cafes! i bought a plant and a candle for my new room, as well as a card featuring WW2 propaganda "keep calm and carry on." seems like a good motto! :-)

before heading back to my neck of the woods, we stopped into a cafe and i had a sicilian breakfast consisting of: fried halloumi cheese (my new favorite), spicy salami, olives (another thing i can't stop eating), hashbrowns, cucumbers, tomatoes, and a fried egg. it was fabulous. time for a nap!
